Taganga, Santa Marta

Description of the experience

Taganga is an important diving destination in Santa Marta, with world renown in this activity that attracts divers from all over the world to explore the crystal clear waters and observe the marine biodiversity of the Caribbean coast.

A passionate diving community visits Taganga with the purpose of living this aquatic experience, where many certified diving schools offer courses for beginners and advanced divers.

In this experience, tourists get a theoretical introduction to the basics of diving and the use of the corresponding equipment. Subsequently, they are instructed on underwater breathing techniques and the handling of diving equipment. The guide then leads participants on an underwater tour, allowing them to observe various marine species and experience the unique sensation of floating and moving through the water, all at a depth of no more than 12 meters.

Santa Marta offers a variety of dive sites that will satisfy both beginners and experienced divers. Some of the most outstanding places for this activity are: the Tayrona National Natural Park, the San Andresito shipwreck, Needle Island and the Taganga reef.

The warm waters of the Colombian Caribbean are home to an amazing diversity of marine life. On your dives, you may encounter colorful corals, tropical fish, rays, reef sharks and, if you are lucky, even sea turtles.
